Madrona Bark for Dying Fabrc & Paper
Madrona trees (also called Madrone trees) can be used to dye fabric and paper. Arbutus menziesii trees grow along the Pacific Coast from British Columbia to California. The bark peels off the tree and produces a rich red brown dye.
No mordant is needed because Madrona bark is high in tannins. A long slow simmer is all you need to do.
