Elon Musk wasn’t on my ballot. Yet Trump has given him the keys to the kingdom. They are not patriots. They are hellbent on destroying the very foundations of American democracy, the Constitution be damned.
MAGA no more! We must act quickly and decsively to confront this national disaster. It will take individual and collective action. It won’t be fun and it won’t be quick. But you and I both know we can’t sit on the sidelines and whine.
So let’s stand tall and TCB! Boycott evil corporations, use Etsy before Amazon. Shop local. Support that which supports us. Vote with you wallet. No processed food, eat organic. Shop neighborhood farmers markets. Grow your own food even if it’s on your window sill or balcony. Let’s take our lives back from the 1% tech oligarchs. Parts of our resistance will be quiet and personal yet victoriouis over today’s headlines. FOX News will the last to catch on.
Building Your Pod
Start by assembling your posse, your homies, those you love and trust. (Trust is earned not assumed.) Your pod.
Love and support your pod during marches and demonstrations. Share meals, feelings, ideas, and tears'n'fears. Garden extras? Freeze, dry, and preserve them to feed each other.
Memorize each other’s phone numbers. Establish code words. Take first aid classes together. Start with YouTube. Contact your local fire station and ask if they offer instruction, offical or otherwise. Reach out to friends who are first responders, nurses, doctors, or those with military training.
Embrace team building exercises like outings, hikes, fishing and foraging, visiting art galleries and museums, shopping at farmers markets, celebrating each other’s birthdays together. Meditate, pray, and practice yoga, pilates, martial arts as a group, each one teach one. Tea or coffee, beer or wine, 420. Argue and make up. Whatever makes you happy and brings you joy! File under therapeutic self care.
Identify MAGA cultists if only to isolate yourself from them. Flag disinformation, false news, conspiracy theories. Counter with The Truth.
Use secure communication tools. Use long, strong passwords and software that offers end-to-end encryption. Assume the government and other bad actors are listening, reading, recording, and tracking everything. Because they are. Use Signal for text messaging and/or phone calls. Tor is the safest and most secure way to use the internet. Snowflake, is a Tor proxy which routes traffic through the Tor network, making it harder to track any one individual. We should all install Snowflake everywhere. Snowflake is free, legal, and BTW it runs faster on Linux machines. Install SnowFlake on as many machines as possible under dfferent IP addresses.
We need to pace yourselves. The Resistance is going to take awhile but we all agree it’s worth it. Pay attention to the news without obsessing over it. We’re too busy building resiliant, positive, Earth friendly alternatives.
